Message received from Konrad Ermert (Duntroon Society Victoria):

Dear Members,

Sad news of David Lawrence, RAAC:

Colonel (Retd) David Lawrence AM passed away on 15 March 2023. A brief obituary in this morning’s The Age (Melbourne) 18/3/23 reads:

“LAWRENCE, David Robert AM : 28/3/1936 – 15/3/2023. Loving husband of Val, amazing father of Liz, DJ and Jacque, proud father-in-law of Lindsay, and doting grandfather of DC and Andrew and their partners Leah and David. Dearly loved and sadly missed.

ANZAC DAY

Warning Order – ANZAC Day March to the Shrine of Remembrance

Dear Victorian Scheyvillians, we will again be parading under the OTU Banner in this year’s
March to the Shrine of Remembrance.

Our nominated form up time is 0915 hrs for a march off at 0952 hrs.

The RSL is advising that we arrive at the form up area at least 45 minutes before march off time.
Our recent experience would suggest 60 minutes beforehand just to be sure.

We are to assemble on the South side of Flinders Street to the West of Swanston Street.

Following the March a mixed luncheon will again be held at the RACV Bistro. The ladies will be most
welcome.

Further details will made available in the near future.

Best wishes,

Frank Miller
Chairman, OTU Association

Dear Konrad

I would be grateful if you could distribute this to your network.
Positions on the Victorian Veterans Council and the Shrine of Remembrance are being advertised on the Victorian Government website.  The link to access these is provided below.
If I may mention the Shrine in particular, Of the ten (10) Trustees, two are ex officio, representing Legacy and the RSL.  Of the rest, three, including the Chair are Veterans but this number will reduce by one if the exiting Trustee is not replaced by a Veteran.  This would mean only four of the ten would be Veterans for the next three to six years.  It would be wonderful if some interested Veterans would apply to improve the balance.
 Yours Aye
