WNP Book – Camp Coricudgy (Exercise Sky High)

..

From Michael Keats (The Wollemi National Park Project):

Does anyone, especially in the early days of OTU, remember using Camp Coricudgy during the Senior Term Exercises? Michael said that the map below was from 1962.

Vale Major General BW Howard (Hori) AO, MC, ESM & Vale Lt Col Bryan M Hughes, RAAC, (RMC1959)

Dear Members,

Passing on this sad news received from Peter Stokes:

Members may not have heard that Major General BW Howard (Hori) AO, MC, ESM (Retd) died last Thursday. I don’t know if he was ever in the Duntroon Society but he would be very well known to the Infantry and older cohorts of the Society.  RMC Class of 1959. RIP.

Indeed, he was well known by many and highly regarded by all.

Rest in peace, Hori.

Secretary

Duntroon Society Victoria

====================================

Dear Members,

More sad news, I’m afraid.  I have received news from his daughter that Lt Col Bryan M Hughes, RAAC,  (RMC 1959) passed away on Monday 13 May.  “He was surrounded by 4 generations of his family when he passed and it was very peaceful”.

Another fine officer and gentleman has joined the Passing Parade.  Rest in peace, Bryan.

Kind regards to all,

Konrad Ermert

Secretary

Duntroon Society Victoria

Request from Australian Army Museum Duntroon

Jusr received from curator at the Australian Army Museum Duntroon:

Message:
Hello, I am the curator at the Australian Army Museum Duntroon. I am wondering if the following notice could please be sent to members or placed in your newsletter?

The Australian Army Museum Duntroon is currently closed for a major refit, which will allow us to greatly expand the story of officer training in Australia. The museum only holds a small number of objects from Scheyville OTU and is hoping to expand its collection. In particular, I am seeking:

Examples of uniform, recreational clothing or badges
Computer assessment cards
Good quality images or film such as training or recreational activities, the pink cannon, graduation parades
Call up notices
Awards
A recording of the OTU song

If you have items that you would like to donate or loan to help us tell the Scheyville story, please get in touch.
