1/71 Reunion in Cairns – 15 to 19 May

All,

Class 1/71 is holding a reunion in Cairns 15 to 19 May. As part of our program we are having a reception hosted by Cairns Regional Council at the Tanks (Gardens) Wednesday the 17th May. It would be great if any of the local graduates could join us or any graduates passing through at that time. Please contact Ian Kuhl (0407135645 0r email ikuhl@bigpond.net.au). We are sure it will be a great time. This will be our fifth reunion, been to Canberra, Devonport, Fremantle and Melbourne previously.

Thanks,

Ian Kuhl  (1/71)

Family Picnic Healesville Sanctuary – 19 Mar 17

Gentlemen,

At our last OTU Assn (Vic Chapter) meeting it was suggested that we should arrange a social activity during the warmer months whereby our members and their families can get together to enjoy a great day out.

One of our number, Graeme Chester 2/67, is a Volunteer Guide at the Healesville Sanctuary and he suggested a picnic at the Sanctuary as it offered an interesting/educational outing plus a pleasant bush environment for our grand children to have some fun.

Consequently, a visit to the Sanctuary has been organised for Sun 19th March 2017. A covered pavilion (Robert Eadie Pavilion) has been booked should the weather be hot, or wet, and the adjacent picnic area is close to the bistro and has plenty of electric BBQs if required.

In general, the plan is that, after paying for your entry, you arrive with your picnic gear at the Robert Eadie Pavilion by 10.30am. We can then take in the 11.15am Platypus Show followed by the Spirits of the Skies Show at 12n. From there we would return to the picnic area for our lunch, after which Graeme is happy to take us on a tour of the remainder of the Sanctuary. There will be plenty of space for our grand children to run about and kick a ball etc.

Significant changes have been made to the Sanctuary over the last few years, so if you and haven’t been there for a while you will certainly notice the difference.

Lets make this a fun start to our Social Program for 2017. Bring your family and enjoy a day in the bush with our fabulous Australian native animals.

Details of the activity are outlined in the attached flyer.

Regards

nbc
