Our next lunch is on Wed 13 Mar at the RACV Club as normal at 12 .30 in the Bistro on the Ground Floor of 501 Bourke St Melbourne.
It seems appropriate early in the year, that in inviting you to our monthly lunch at The RACV Club I take the opportunity to mention the basis for our lunches.
Our numbers grow, which is fantastic, and it is, I think, important that we recognise some of our home grown ‘guidelines’ for the benefit of all.
These have been established over the last 7 years that we have enjoyed these lunches.
These guidelines, in the interest of fellowship and mateship are:
1. We are privileged to use the Club, as a few of our number have taken out membership. We are therefore their guests and as we would expect should act accordingly.
2. We aim to keep the cost of our lunches down to around $35 per head to ensure no difficulty for any who attend. In that regard we keep our lunch selection to one course, most normally, fish and chips, steak sandwich, hamburger, Caeser salad, risotto etc all around the $22 mark and limit our drink selection to house wines, beer, soft drink and tap water and coffee/tea to follow.
3. We are very lucky that we often enjoy the benefit of various discount options offered to the Members, who share these offers with those attending rather than use them for their own benefit. This also keeps our costs way down.
4. While we attempt to keep all costs realistic, and often allow for drinkers/non-drinkers I think it eases a lot of trauma if we simply split the bill evenly amongst all who attend, particularly when there has been a discount voucher applied.
5. We presently have $135 in a kitty. We have some options, keep building the kitty and use it at year end or use it to offset our monthly bill. Perhaps leave it to the organisers to decide but open to suggestions.
