I wondered if we could support Tim Fischer’s efforts by inviting OTU members to sign this petition.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

By now you will have surely heard that the Australian prime Minister has unilaterally decided that he will not proceed with the elevation of Australia’s greatest Citizen Soldier to the rank of Field Marshal which, whilst we are disappointed given his previous support for this proposition represents in our view a lost opportunity in this th centenary year of the cessation of hostilities of the Great War to address and remove the prejudices of the past whilst at the same time honouring the memory and sacrifice of the First AIF under his leadership in the latter part of the war.

The link below can be accessed for you to sign our petition to convince the Prime Minister to review his decision and I would ask that you circulate it as widely as is possible to your contacts and colleagues to ask them to get behind this proposal .
