“Cry for Help” – Save the Lithgow Small Arms Factory Museum.

  •  Received the following ‘cry for help’ from Craig Robinson, the Curator at the new Scheyville Site Museum. He has a few military interests.
  •  We believe that there would be many of the OTU-Association who have visited the museum or have an interest in seeing it preserved.

  • Received from Kerry Guerin, Secretary of the Lithgow Small Arms Factory Museum:
  • Due to a break-in and subsequent ongoing obstruction by our landlord, the museum is closed and in danger of never reopening.
  • As a museum that frequently hosts visits from clubs of all interests, we wanted to ask for your help to preserve this vital piece of history for future generations.
  • There are two ways your association can help:
  • 1. Sign and share our NSW Parliamentary Petition asking politicians to facilitate site ownership for the Museum. This petition is for NSW residents of all ages: Facilitate Site Ownership for the Lithgow Small Arms Factory Museum
  • 2. The Heritage Council of NSW has made a resolution to list the Lithgow Small Arms Factory site on the NSW State Heritage Register. It is now at the public consultation stage and anyone, regardless of their location, is invited to comment or make a submission. It is then up to the Government to decide if the listing goes ahead. A successful listing will protect the site from demolition and will greatly enhance our chances of saving the Museum. You can make a comment or submission on this website: https://www.haveyoursay.nsw.gov.au/lithgowsaf
Further information on the Museum’s current situation can be found on this website: https://sites.google.com/view/savelithgowsafm
  • We would be grateful if you could share this information with your members, family, friends, and anyone who might be interested. We would truly appreciate your help as we fight to keep the museum open for everyone to enjoy.
  • Thank you for your time and support – we look forward to continuing to welcome clubs to the museum for many years to come!
