Reminder – National Reunion

Dear Scheyvillians, just a reminder of the forthcoming National Reunion scheduled over the weekend 14 – 16 October this year. Coincidentally it matches the 50^thanniversary of the final March In of National Servicemen to OTU Scheyville.

The reunion is to be held around the Windsor area and will comprise the following:

Friday 14^th October, a formal mixed dinner at the Ted McCabe Function Centre, Hawkesbury Race  Club, 1 Racecourse Road, Clarendon, NSW with registration commencing at 6.00 pm.

Saturday 15^th October has been set aside for individual class reunions. This provides a wonderful opportunity to catch up with friends made so many years ago.

Sunday 16^th October will be a visit to the old camp area at Scheyville National Park from 11 am. There will be a BBQ lunch and refreshments in the quadrangle of the former Officers’  Mess.

Bookings are to be made on an on line facility and will be open from July 2022.

Please put this into your diaries if you haven’t already done so. It promises to be a wonderful weekend that will be a fitting celebration of that special time in our lives over fifty years ago. We look forward to seeing you there.

I have received the following email from Geoff Richardson (1/70). Please read and take action as requested.

Hi Ian,

Geoff Richardson here, Class 1/70, at Scheyville with a warning order that I would like you to make available to members of classes 4/69, 1/2/3/ 70 to 1/71.

Lt Col Dick Flint was Chief Instructor at Scheyville, Officer Training Unit, Oct ’69 to May ’71, and passed in May 2021. Across this period he was a significant person in the lives of many young National Servicemen. Permission has been given by Richard Flint, Dick’s son, that interested cadets meet and share their “Dick Flint Stories”. The meet will be held at Currumbin RSL, on the Gold Coast, on Friday 15 July at 1030hrs. Members of the Flint family have been invited to attend along with OTU cadets who can make it on that day.

I would appreciate it if you could put this invitation out to the above classes. You may wish to send it to all OTU members, as a point of interest.
