G’day All,

Our next lunch is next Wednesday 13 Sep at 12.30 in the Bistro of the RACV Club, 501 Bourke St Melbourne.
As always, smart casual dress, good humour and fine camaraderie plus main meals under $30 (please) are on the menu.
Sensible and constrained food and drink choices will help  keep the costs at around $45 per head.
3/69 looks like having a good attendance.
The Association AGM follows in the Business Centre or on Zoom at 2.45pm.
Please advise of your planned attendance to bctcooper@gmail.com by Monday arvo 11 Sep.
Cheers

Subject: KISS honouring our Heroes through Final Curtain tour in October 🎸
The Legacy Centenary Torch Relay 2023, presented by Defence Health is excited to announce a very special partnership between KISS and Legacy Australia!

From September 5, 2023, rock legends KISS will donate a portion of every ticket purchased to KISS’ final Australian show to Legacy and Wounded Heroes, making a meaningful impact in the lives of our incredible Australian veterans and their families.

In a wonderful union with Legacy and Wounded Heroes Australia, $10 from every concert ticket sold from Tuesday 5 September 2023, will be donated to help support two great Australian charities who support our veterans’ and their families – Legacy and Wounded Heroes.

Plus, 5000 tickets from ‘The Final Curtain’ will also be donated to Veterans and serving defence personnel.

So, let’s come together to show our gratitude and make a difference.

BOOK TICKETS
So spread the word, share the news, and let’s make this final ever KISS show one to remember, joining Paul, Gene, Tommy, and Eric and rocking on for a purpose in what will be the biggest send-off party in the world for the band who gave rock’n’roll to us!

Duntroon Society – Happy Hour 24 Aug 23

Good Afternoon Everyone

As you are all aware Dave Sabben is invited to the DunSoc “Happy Hour Plus” at the RACV Club tomorrow.

Late notice, and sincere apologies from Dave but he will have to cancel… or better, postpone his attendance at our Happy Hour+ tomorrow.

For those of you who don’t know Dave had a minor stroke approx 3 weeks ago and subsequently got Covid and has just come out of a 7-day covid lockdown.

Dave was still prepared to come to the RACV Club on Thursday but with the passing of 6776 LTCOL (RTD) Harry Arthur Smith, SG, MC OC D Coy 6 RAR 1966 on the weekend and the expectation that he should attend the funeral on Wed 30 Aug.  Dave is one of two surviving Officers of the Battle of Long Tan along with Geoff Kendall.  Geoff is non-coherent and is not well and hasn’t attended any Military functions for a long time.

Dave’s medical advice is now NOT to attend on Thursday or at any other place until after the flights.

His doctor says he cannot take the risk of catching a temporary something by mixing with people prior to the flights.

I know this is a blow however the Happy Hour+ will still go ahead tomorrow as planned.

Sincerely

Roger Schie
