Big Camp Invite 2019

2019 Lord and Lady Somers Camps

Dear Scheyvillians. Once again we are  invited to attend January’s Lord and Lady Somers Camps. Details (timing, what to wear etc.) are given in the letter below.

The day is always well worthwhile and confirms the value of the camps as having been the Victorian Chapter’s main Youth Development thrust for many years..

In order that we may make a strong showing I would seek to have as many as possible attend on the one day ( although this would not be mandatory!)

Accordingly, I am calling for people to volunteer to visit the Boys’ or Girls’ Camps.

Could you please let me know if you can come and which ( Boys’ 7,8,9 January  or Girls’, 14,15,16, January) would best suit you. I can then coordinate these with LS&PH.

Partners are welcome.

A reply by 13 December would be very much appreciated.

Best wishes,

Frank Miller.

Chairman, Victorian Chapter, OTU Association.

Our Christmas Lunch – Wed 12 December

Dear All,

Our final lunch for the year is on Wed 12 Dec at 12.30 in the Bistro RACV Club 501 Bourke St Melbourne.
Just mention to the doorman that you are on our table booked under Cooper and move straight in to the Bistro on the right.
As always, smart casual attire, good humour and tales of great or imaginary achievements are expected. Christmas cheer is a requirement:)

I have opted for the two course festive menu at a cost of $45 per head plus drinks.

We have been granted a subsidy of $10 per head by the Vic  Committee so that will help.

We also have $15 that was surplus in our Oct lunch- every little bit helps.
I will ask Ian Kelly to distribute to the Vic membership at large.

Given the seasonal demand could you please make every effort to email your acceptance by Friday 7 December to the email address below.

Cheers and Best Regards
Brian

OTU Warning Order – 2020 Reunion

Early Advice – 2020 National Officer Training Unit Association Reunion

Dear Scheyvillians, towards the end of July we conducted a survey of the national membership seeking views on the possibility of holding a reunion in 2020. Input was requested on its location, the most appropriate time of the year and format. It received an excellent  response with over three hundred and fifty replies.

The vast majority were in favour of having another national get together. Furthermore, New South Wales was preferred over the other states with October being the most popular month.

Finally people opted for the two main events – a formal mixed dining in night and a picnic luncheon at the Scheyville site.

Accordingly, it has been decided to hold an OTU National Reunion during the period Friday 16 to Sunday 18 October 2020.

The Executive is most fortunate in having Dick Adams (3/72) agree to coordinate the event.

In essence a formal mixed dinner will be held at the Hawkesbury Race Club on the evening of the Friday and a picnic luncheon at Scheyville on the Sunday. Saturday 18thOctober will be reserved for individual classes to hold reunion activities.

With the two main functions taking place in the Windsor area it is envisaged most people will opt to stay in that area over the weekend.

Further details, including timings and accommodation availability will be published shortly in the “Scheyvillian” and on the website.

At this stage we would ask that you pencil 16 – 18 October 2020 in your diaries.

Best wishes,

Frank Miller
