Served for 45 years in both the Regular Army and Army Reserve as a Cavalry Officer and retired from the Reserve in 2019 at age 68 and at the rank of LTCOL. Final civilian role was CEO of Defence Health Foundation undertaking research into Defence related medical conditions. Retired from this role in 2020 at age 69.
