PLANTING OF AN ALEPPO PINE AT DUNTROON, 7 OCTOBER 2026
At RMC Duntroon, one of the ovals is named The Scheyville Oval. An Aleppo pine, grown from a seed from Gallipoli, has been gifted to the OTU Association by a Nurseryman, Bruce Williams, a member of 2/65’s Gordon Hurford’s 2 RAR Platoon in Vietnam.
The oval is off Hopkins Drive, Duntroon, adjacent to the Duntroon rear gate on Fairbairn Avenue. The entrance to the oval is clearly signposted. The pine tree will be planted and a plaque installed adjacent to the Scheyville Oval during a Working Bee on 6 October 2026.
The official unveiling for the tree and plaque will occur on Wednesday 7 October 2026.
